You might think a few flies in a restaurant are no big deal, but state inspectors take them seriously and for good reason. Flies can carry germs from contaminated surfaces and transfer them to food. Last week, inspectors found flies landing directly on exposed food at several South Florida restaurants, including cooked chicken, eggs, cheese, dessert toppings and other ready-to-eat items. In some cases, Stop Sale orders were issued because food was no longer considered to be in wholesome, sound condition. And flies weren’t the only concern inspectors also documented mold-like buildup inside ice machines and other food-safety violations.Below is a closer look at what inspectors found. All of the restaurants listed below were allowed to reopen following an ordered cleanup and a follow-up inspection.**SMOOTHIE SPOT DAVIE8902 STATE ROAD 84DAVIEORDERED SHUT 10/227 VIOLATIONS FOUND“Stop Sale issued due to food not being in a wholesome, sound condition.
